The problem with the GOP is that they nominate big government conservatives and take for granted that the conservatives in the country will vote for them since there is no where else to go. Well, with the last election, Romney found out that they would just stay at home

No, they nominate big government statists. Rove, BTW was quoted as saying ignore the conservative base because they have nowhere else to go.
