We have to stop looking at employers and employees in an us vs them lens. It is a free exchange. Employers are willing to pay for the time that employees spend working the employer's business. This is despite the fact that the employer is losing money or going into debt to pay his staff. The employee still demands his pay for the time that he worked based on the agreement. If the employee feels he is not paid enough, he can find another job or start his own.

Republican legislators voted Tuesday to make Michigan the 24th state in the nation to protect an essential civil liberty: the right to work for a living without being required to join or pay money to a labor union. Governor Rick Snyder signed the new laws – one dealing with private-sector employees, one covering government employment – a few hours later, hailing them as "pro-worker and pro-Michigan."
