If California passes AB 1506, then the state’s IOUs become instruments California not only issues to pay its debts, but instruments California will accept as payments. These things are currently called IOUs, but if AB 1506 passes, it doesn’t matter what they’re called, they will become currency by definition.

This will fly until the constitutionality of it is challenged. Sorry, California, but the U.S. Constitution grants the U.S. Congress the sole authority to print money.

How about this idea as an alternative to term limits:

1. Senators & Representatives are not limited in any way to the number of terms in office they may be elected to. However, there is a limitation to eligibility for consecutive terms in office (next item).

2. The total amount of debt owed by the government will be tracked on a regular basis, and 6 months prior to the election of Senators and Representatives it will be published conspicuously for the public. If the published debt 6 months prior to the election is greater than the previous published amount, the Senators and Representatives in office will be ineligible for reelection until they have been out of office for 1 full term and must forfeit back to the state all...

Include me on the list of people mad as hell for the reasons discussed in this article.

John, of course our politicians understand what they are doing. This isn’t about what they say. Ignore what they say. This is about the politicians taking more power for themselves. This is about taking away our freedoms.
