Fuzzy, I am NOT now, and never was, OK with civil unions for same-sex couples. Once we accepted civil unions and thereby conceded that the pervs deserved any positive accomodation, we set ourselves up to look simply churlish by denying them marriage. We would have been better off if we had pointed out that they are left alone to practice their perversions, that they should be grateful for that, and that they should not push their luck by demanding more.

You should have. It would have been more honest to admit that you don't have any respect for individual rights instead of couching it in "small government/liberty" rhetoric.
