Fiscal Cliff Talks Not Going Well So Far

Is it those evil, obstructionist republicans who have thwarted the constitutionally mandated budget process for the last 3 years? How is it that no budget resolution has managed even a hearing in the democrat controlled senate? There is plenty of irresponsibility to go around and democrats own their fair share.

Why, yes it is the republicans who have thwarted the budget mandate. If in doubt of that, just ask any liberal.

Not true; the Republicans for 4 years - as Mitch McConnell publicly acknowledged! - never, ever had a plan to compromise with ANY budget. That is why the Democrats 'failed to put forward a budget.' You guys can spin this any way you want but we all know that the Republicans' one policy over the past 4 years was: Hate the President and do not allow him to get anything done. As you saw a couple weeks ago, the majority of the electorate saw through the smokescreen as well. So, stop spinning nonsense; your propaganda failed for 4 years and will continue to do so.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but fiscal cliff discussion between Republicans and Democrats has already started and will continue after the Holiday weekend. As you can imagine things aren't going so well, which means we are more likely to see some kind of deal not in the next couple weeks, but just before or on Christmas.

The opening round of negotiations this week between White House and senior GOP congressional staffers left both sides pessimistic about their ability to reach a quick deal on averting the fiscal cliff, according to sources familiar with the talks.
