He states how ridiculous it is that there's not enough competition for insurance companies in each state. Ya think? Maybe that's because the GOVERNMENT PREVENTS them from selling across state lines so we are all stuck with the limited pool of insurers in our respective states. Here in California I have 6 companies to choose from if I buy a policy on my own, 6!

Will the media let him get away with this? Probably but the audacity is stunning.
And it is hilarious! I haven't logged on in a few hours and am now reading the posts by Bob where he goes on and on without saying anything, just like you said!

To your point Bob about the laws prohibiting insurers from selling across state lines. Ok, I stand corrected, it's the STATES that don't allow this, not the Feds. So, what, this makes it ok? Federal legislation always takes precedent over states and in this case I think it would be highly warranted. It wouldn't be an unfunded mandate or costly new rule or an infringement of freedom. One stroke of the pen by our President would break up the crony capitalism relationship between lobbyists and state regulators and open up the insurance market for the consumers,...

I'm sorry about the experience you went through with your mom, nothing brings about the the deficits of our current health care system more than dealing with a personal tragedy.

To answer your question about high costs though, you need to look at basic economics. Hospitals have to keep their doors open by paying their staff and investing in equipment. Whether it's a profit or non-profit facility it doesn't really matter as the daily cost of salaries and expenses still have to be reckoned with.

In a normal world, pricing on services would be what the market can bear, this in itself a combination of supply, demand, quantity and quality if goods offered. Because the government consistently UNDERPAYS for for Medicare and...

Because the problem with the health care debate is it's being framed as either you are for re-vamping the entire industry with the ridiculous current proposals, or you are against reform. This is just not true but the media stays away touting from free market reforms so unless you get your information outside of this, you will not hear about them.

Many have suggested getting rid of regulations barring insurers from selling policies across state lines, getting rid of the coverage mandates that drive up costs, plus giving us average folks the same tax breaks employers get when buying insurance. They also say an aggressive effort is needed to enroll those who qualify for Medicaid but who for whatever reasons have not signed up and...

What's Scary About Health Care Reform?

This is causing price distortions and reduced competition. Right now, it's illegal for a company to sell you a policy from another state. You are forced to buy from a pool of insurers in your state and those insurers are stuck with selling you a policy that has government enforced coverage mandates. You may not want to have in-vitro and drug abuse services in your policy but if you live in California you have no choice but to buy a plan covering them and other services, all of which drive up costs. And not only are you needlessly paying more, but you can't even take a tax deduction for it.

Why not just give us average folks these tax breaks and get rid of coverage mandates while letting insurance companies sell policies across...

Who's Un-American?

Are you kidding me Brian? I challenge you to name one Republican who said that anyone who disagreed with them on the war (which by the way the majority of Dems voted for!) was unpatriotic and should move to France. This whole "unpatriotic" spin was constantly pushed by Pelosi and friends but the problem was it was never true! In fact, I seem to recall similar sentiments by lefties like Alec Balwdin saying he would leave the country if GWB was re-elected. We're all still waiting for him to make good on that promise.

What's going on today with these huge bills being forced on us by partisans whose only interest seems to be in growing government is truly un-American; their insults against our opposition is just the proverbial...
