I earned a Master's degree in education early 90's. If people think graduates of education programs know everything about how to serve children they have been snowed. I remember one class where we spent lots of time discussing "standards", unions and other nonsense. When the students demanded an open-book test, the professor relented and said okay. Even with the books and notes open, there were students who got C's. Parents stand up for yourselves and teach your own children. Use Hake Grammar and Writing and Saxon Math (versions published by Saxon Books and available from online used book stores for under $20).

Debbie Squires, the infamous Michigan Elementary/Middle School Principals Association bureaucrat who told a Michigan legislative committee that parents may not know what is best for their children is now saying they should “stay informed” and “voice their concerns to legislators,” according to
