It's been said that the death penalty would never be used after SMU received it for two years in 1989, it was so detrimental that it was seen as pointless.

They're reserving the death penalty for truly egregious stuff, like not admitting the politically correct number of Lesbian, Gay, trans-gendered and Bi faculty. Pedophiles are also a minority group I guess.
