First, let me say I am no fan of the Obama Administration. However, it's only right to recognize the president's part in the successful conclusion to the search for Bin Laden. If Cheney can do so - and he did yesterday - others opposed to Obama on other policies and issues should be able to do the same. As for the quick burial and possible release of photos, the military handled the burial according to Muslim traditions. While we may not agree with those beliefs, I believe it was right to honor those BECAUSE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE GOOD GUYS. To desecrate Bin Laden's corpse would have been to do what we accuse our enemies of doing. Was he a bad - yes, evil, man - of course. But doing that does not bring back the people killed on 9/11...
Brad, while you can make Iraq Bush's war, the truth of the matter is that for the past two years, Obama's owned it. People from his own party are upset because not only has he not pulled our troops out of there, now we have Libya. Do you think Khadafi posed an immediate threat to us? Unfortunately, our country seems to believe we need to "rescue" people from throughout the world. While I can see stepping in at times, there is the perception from other countries that we are trying to force our world view on others. I can't say that's incorrect.
Actually, although they appear to be completely opposite in ways, Donald Trump and Sarah Palin are two sides of a coin. Both have been successful in their own way, have charisma and appeal to some. However, neither is equipped to deal with the presidency. As bad as Obama is in so many ways, Trump and Palin would take a horrible, perhaps irreversable downturn in our country, and perhaps be the final killing blow. We need people who know how to act - with courtesy, respect and a willingness to listen to others. It's clear Trump shares the "I know everything" arrogance which is so much a part of who Obama seems to be.
I don't know if he would consider a run, but I'm beginning to wonder about Tom Coburn. I'm impressed with his leadership in the "Gang of 6" bipartisan effort to make a real stab at working on the economy. Now those are representatives who are working together for the greater good. So far everyone else I've seen seems to either be in it for attention (Trump, Sarah Palin), stained by the past (Gingrich) or just too far right to have a chance. I just don't understand how moderation is so difficult to comprehend.
Robert is right. This "I hate Obama no matter what he does" has got to stop. Obviously, you have people from the left who have been, or are, the same about Bush or other Republicans. However, no matter what I think of the majority of Obama's policies and him personally, it's only right to admit he deserves kudos for the Bin Laden raid. It's kind of like a recent class I took at church - glossing over the negatives of the church's history doesn't make it go away. It does a disservice to the faith of the people you are speaking to and to the church itself. The same holds true in politics - Democrats can't be wrong 100% of the time while the Republicans are held up as the saviors of the country (or vica-versa). Unless someone can come...
I agree totally with Lon, Robert and WhatAboutBob? (great nick, by the way). For anyone to have a chance against Obama, they must come out with a plan - not a "everything Obama does is wrong" strategy. Also, in my opinion, social policies need to remain in the background. We need some strong fiscal and foreign policy ideas and we need them now. Anyone with a ghost's chance of beating Obama needs to be smart about that - while conservatives are important, there are A LOT of moderates who don't like Obama but who need someone to cast a vote for who isn't riding the "down with gay marriage" bandwagon as the country sinks into financial abyss. Although we had good news with Bin Laden, don't forget what's happening in the Middle East and how...
The bad thing is - as he ruins himself, so too is he ruining our country.

Fed Up with the Fed?

One slight (okay, not really) omission - Obama as a senator voted for those "Republican" budgets under Bush. He did so as one of the Democratic majority in Congress. He has taken what was wrong under Bush and compounded it.

Still a Bunch of Bitter Clingers

I am bitter - about how Obama and company are destroying our country. I am also clinging - to the attempt to preserve our country, my family and my child's future. It's just so inconvenient that we continue to cling to those pesky ideals - the U.S. Constitution, freedom, liberty, personal responsibility and initiative.
Oh, Jennifer. First, the facts are this - there is an allegation (and not just by the Republicans) that there could be some legal issues here. When it's covered by MSNBC (the "Obama Network"), seems like there might be a little problem for the White House. It is also being covered by legitimate news outlets, not just those who have any kind of political leaning, right or left). As for your comments about President Clinton, I did not agree with the impeachment proceedings against him. I also voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary. That being said, Clinton caused a lot of his own issues simply by not being truthful. The man committed perjury. As for being a "teabagger," I do like tea, so I guess I am guilty of something. This will be my...
