Mourning 'Populist' Hugo Chavez

Chavez (like Pinochet) killed thousands of political opponents and perceived threats to his power grab. He also nationalized (seized) property and companies, from both Venezuelans and foreign owned entities. He didn't give it all to the poor of Venezuela, as our left wing media clowns suggest. He redistributed much of his ill-gotten gains to his political chronies (kinda like Obama is doing) and he managed to keep a couple of billion dollars worth of goodies for himself. Chavez was a thug and a thief, who used politics to mask theft on a grand scale. If Sean Penn had been a wealthy Venezuelan who had all of his property seized, he'd be singing a different tune.

You would be hard pressed to list those killed by Chavez but Pinochet on the other hand killed thousands.

Pinochet left voluntarily and he left a prosperous country, a broader and growing middle class, a booming economy with new upward mobility. The left can't stand that fact. If you want to compare body count you might want to view all other leftists dictatorships. Are you defending Chavez? Are you defending the unbalanced press coverage?

Rubbish-Pinochet left poverty at 45% after destorying democracy.

The Right can't stand the fact that Chavez is viewed to be 10X the leader their beloved Chilean Furher was.

Chavez cut poverty by 50%, extreme poverty by 70% and tripled the GDP per capita.

Pinochet was a piece of garbage who destroyed the economy.

The left has always hated it when fascism comes to power: whether it be in italy, germany, spain, Chile,Argentina etc.

I ran into Chilean "disaparecidos" in New Zealand. I suspect there were many tucked away around the world in other sympathetic places. Pinochet’s political dictatorship was always exaggerated by the left around the world because he actually carried out the only true revolution on the continent in the 20th century. And what really enraged the left, it worked.

Obama never greeted Piloshit as "Mi amigo1"
Our left-wing media's somber, mourning coverage of Venezuelan despot Hugo Chavez once again demonstrates the double standard journalists reserve for dictators.

Seven years ago, the left's greatest South American hate object, Augusto Pinochet, passed away. Never mind how he used free-market reforms to modernize Chile. Never mind that after 15 years of rule, he allowed a national plebiscite to vote against him, and he stepped down peacefully. The left-wing outrage pulsed on the front pages.

The Washington Post headline for Pinochet in 2006 was "A Dictator's Dark Legacy." Reporters Monte Reel and J.Y. Smith stated his government "murdered and tortured thousands during his...
