Although the cliff deal wasn't worth a pea for spending cuts, there is one curiosity that came of Obama and the Democrat leaderships claiming to be attempting to avert the impending hardships it would create for the middle class if the current tax rates were allowed to expire, and it is this: "The current tax rates are exact rates that Obama and the Democrat leadership has been insisting since 2003 were "Bush's tax cuts for the rich". If we only had an objective press corps, someone would have had to explain that by now.

Peas are all the rage when it comes to talking about the country’s fiscal woes.

You might remember that in July of 2011, when fighting over the debt ceiling, president Obama- right before he left for his 17th vacation at Martha’s Vineyard that year- complained about congressional inaction by saying that’s it time for the country “to eat its peas.”
