That's just to enable the power-hungry to look like they are doing the poor people a favor in a world where all the rest are supposedly dragging them down.

Tell it like it is: such people are evil! Narcissistic! Out to destroy all that makes our lives better so that they may be able to better control us.

In Defense of a Crony Capitalist

He makes a grave error here: such a person is taking advantage of a statist system, not a capitalist one. Thus, he is a crony statist - there can be no such thing as a crony capitalist (terms properly defined).

Just War Theory and ISIS

Tom838 Wrote: Sep 13, 2014 3:58 PM
Just War Theory is the application of the morality of altruism to war. This leads to war with unnecessary deaths and the rise of evil movements/regimes. War must be in our own self-interest with the only goal being victory. This is not how our govt. has conducted recent wars. It follows that this article is fraught with error. E.g. - Just cause: they must be a threat to us here; 2 beheadings is not sufficient cause. - Last resort - not necessarily - Proportionality - nonsense! - If war is right, it should not require Congress or the people to vote on it.

It Was Probably Never About Bergdahl

Congratulatoins Linbaugh: you are the first I have seen who admits that this deal was terrible regardless of the character of Bergdahl. And it has to be true that this is one more dangerous mistake based on the false notion that we can negotiate with terrorists. I wonder if the press will do their best to hide the next American killings at the hands of those 5 or other associated terrorists.

The 7 Reasons America Became A Great Power

Tom838 Wrote: Jun 07, 2014 7:01 PM
Until conservatives understand that our founding ethics was not based on religion, we will never be able to get back what drove us to exceptionalism. Our founding ethical system was based on rational self-interest; the belief that man is an end in himself and has the inalienable rights – needed for his individual survival – to act in his own best interest without the use of force against others. This is in contrast to the altruistic morality of religion that calls for self-sacrifice. Without the former, we never could have become the economic powerhouse that we did.
Clearly not (see my post above)
...just as conservatives must choose between freedom and the radical right. Both ends of the spectrum have forgotten what made this country great! We must have true separation of State and church just as much as separation of State and economics; we must have our freedom back and government to only protect our rights.
Not a moral issue, yet an ethical one? Really?
