When pointed out to him by ABCs Gibson and Stephanopolous that historically higher tax rates have led to a fall rather than a rise in tax revenues, Obama willfully sidestepped that point by repeating that higher tax rates would be "fairer".

During that debate, the interviewers to their credit persisted with this line of questioning that previous tax falls led to a rise in govt revenues because they kept getting a bone-headed answer from Obama.
