If you believe marriage should be illegal for any who engage in premarital sex, then your logic holds up. Child molestation is a crime because it is nonconsentual, exploitative and abusive. It trivializes child molestation to categorize it with homosexuality. Not everyone in America -- a pluralistic country and not a theocracy -- defines morality the way you do. That's why there is a difference between immoral and illegal. If I based my definition of morality on the Bible, I would have to believe that rape, murder, slavery and genocide are moral, when God says so, and he seems to say so a lot.

You know what God considered an even bigger abomination? So much so that he called it an abomination seven separate times? Fraudulent business practices. Oh how I would love it if the church devoted as much energy to that as it does to people's private business.

Both the old testament (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 for just one of numerous examples) and the new testament (Revelations, anyone??!) feature mass murders of nonbelievers.

I doubt anyone's feelings were changed one iota, and everyone is even more firmly entrenched.

Rape was a crime because it decreased the value of the father's property. Marriage partners were commodities. The woman's feelings or interests were as irrelevant as those of a goat being sold.

I don't see the connection. Polygamy is a heterosexual institution that has Biblical foundations. It is illegal in spite of those two things. So why would allowing same sex couples to marry have any impact on polygamy whatsoever?
