Rampage Shootings: It's the Moral Decay of Society, not Guns

Allison, do you hear yourself? Your ignorance is on full display. Please think before you type. The 2nd Amendment is about protecting our God given right to self defense and having the means to throw off a tyrannical Government. The word musket is nowhere in the Consitution, but the word Arms is. Growing up in the 50's and 60's guns were much easier to get than today. We didn't have background checks, and you could order a gun through the Sears catalog, yet there were no school shootings, mall shootings...why? What's changed ? I'll help you out, it's the cultural decay as Rachel has described. I've watched it happen inch by inch over my lifetime. Blaming guns is like blaming cars for drunk driving.

A really terrific read. Ultimately, yes, there are people who wants guns banned outright. At the same time, to place measures that make it difficult to obtain a firearm should not always be perceived to aim to disarm a populace (although many do want it to be that way)- to ensure that people with deviant, or mentally unstable backgrounds do not arm themselves is not necessarily infringing on a right. When you commit crimes or have things in your background that aren't admirable, let's say, to employ measures to protect society from that individual are not an infringement.

Blaming "cultural" decay is also like blaming cars for drunk driving.

Clearly you don't understand and that is the effect showing that you Insighting- are a victim of cultural decay.

It is impossible for those who have been changed by cultural decay to recognize they have the problem, just as most psychological patients cannot recognize their own symptoms..

It's called "lack of insight". The mentally ill, drug addicts and alcoholics lack it. The families also often lack insight into their family member's illness be it addiction or severe mental illness.

It should come as no surprise that the rate of mass shootings at schools and in other public places is increasing. The surge has nothing to do with guns, which have been widely available in the U.S. for years. Gun control laws have been increasing. Instead, there is a direct correlation between the increase in violence and the gradual degradation of morals, ethics and parenting. We are cultivating mental illness in our society.

Parents are allowing television and video games to increasingly babysit their children, even though both have become full of gratuitous violence. A New...
