Because the supreme court of Massachuesetts had mandated that a law be passed for universal heath care in the state. He could not do anything other than put his two cents in a legistature that was polar opposite from him in political theory. Do I like everything that was passed in that bill. No, but think how much worse it would have been if a Kennedy had been a govenor. Then again, they probably wouldn't have had to take it to the state supreme cour to force Kennedy's hand.

Uh, the republicans never had the Senate House and Pres in the Eighties. They did have a majority during the Bush III time period. They didn't gain a majority in the house and Senate until Clinton got into office.

Buddy...what world are you in. I am solidly middle class to lower middle class and have NEVER paid more than 10 -15% effective tax rate. I work in a CPA office and prepare tax returns for a living...and I have a few clients that are considered rich and they are paying the 30 and 40% in taxes that you claim that I am. If you are paying 30 to 40% in taxes then may I suggest you pay for a competent tax preparer?

Correction...he isn't taxing the GROSS Income, he wants to Tax the Net Income...on S-Corporations, Partnerships, and Sole Proprietors. So while he is taxing those who have net income on over 250,000...he hasn't figured out that for the most part, people don't walk out with that money in their pockets....that 250,000 is not a salary...it is not used for them personally...it is used to buy better equipment, hire somebody, donate to a cause of their choosing. It doesn't stay in that owners pocket...not if they want to stay in business it doesn't.
I can admire him for his compassion...but his politics only create a need for that compassion. His politics do not solve the issues.
And the borrower are not assuming any risk? Uh, no.

For me...I have the degree, but I have never been able to break through to the corporate world. I figured it out a few weeks ago. I have ADHD. It is holding me back both personally and professionally. But, instead of whining about it...I am doing something about it. I am going to get help managing my ADHD from a professional. Now does that mean medication? I don't know at this point. Maybe for a little while until I can learn to control it better. But I don't expect professionals or family to make acceptions for me that they would not make for someone else. It is my issue...I have to correct it.
