In Texas the legislature only meets every other year for 180 days because the people who set up the system knew that is an effective way to curb government from becoming over bearing and a threat to freedom is to limit the time they have to inflict new laws that end up doing more harm than good to law abiding people. I hear that a do nothing Congress is one that has not passed a large number of new laws I say great, the less they do the better the people will be in the long run.

I personally would LOVE to see them add a sunset clause to every biill they pass. When they come due to retire, we can re-evaluate their worth, study the consequencies and either renew it, or let it die!! No bill should EVER pass without there being a way to remove it when it is either destructive or no longer of any value.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein began her war on allergy and cold sufferers in 2005. In an effort to prevent small-time dealers from buying allergy and cold drugs and cooking them into methamphetamine, she pushed through legislation requiring consumers to show identification before purchasing products with pseudoephedrine -- otherwise known as the good allergy drugs, known only to those who know enough to ask for them.

Now Feinstein wants to make you get a prescription from a doctor before you buy these drugs.
