Until the Supreme Court's usurpation of the right of the states to regulate abortion is addressed, these efforts are fighting an uphill battle against the doctrine of judicial precedent. There is another possible solution. This is to correct the underlying distortion of the Constitution which has allowed the Supreme Court to use the hopelessly vague language of section 1 of the 14th amendment to read whatever social policy it wants into the Constitution.
