I am a Civil Engineer, and can say without reservation that the mode of failure of the twin towers is very plausible. As my structural engineering professor taught and experience has borne out, most structural failures result from the connections giving out.

"Yes, we all make mistakes. But do governments not make bigger and more catastrophic mistakes?' Individuals do make mistakes. True. But the consequences of the mistakes are evident and have a real cost to the individual. So they learn from them, correct them, and apply the experience to future decisions, and gain a level of success. Since governments are also made of people, they also make mistakes. In the case of government mistakes, the consequences are not so evident or immediate, and the politicians go to great lengths to assure that their mistakes are never attributed to them. In the meantime, massive beaureacricies are built up and develop an entitlement class than can never be denied.

I would contend that when the administration asserted Executive Privilege over the F&F documents, they effectively ended their chances to maintain distance from the F&F decision-making.

Not content with diminishing male opportunities in atheletics, the Department of Education is preparing regulations to apply Title IX to address the paucity of women in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. This is based on statistical disparities and the assumption that women should be represented in these fields in the same proportion as their percentage in society (50%+). The only "discrimination" that is occurring is women's choices and preferences for other fields of study - the women that graduate in STEM fields do very well. Nevertheless, the government will reduce opportunities for men in a field where they excel to fix a problem that only exists when statisticians ignore gender preferences.

Speaking of Obama directed outsourcing, wasn't there something on the order of $2 Billion in subsidies to Petrobras for oil production and exploration in Brazil, while his minions were doing everything possible to shut down production and exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. Obama was taped saying something to the effect that 'the US would like to be their biggest customer'.
