A Finger On the Scales

The reason more academics self-identify as liberals is because there are more liberals than conservatives in academia, by at least 3-1. The reason for that is the liberals' near-monopoly on hiring in the last 50-60 years. Naturally, the liberals won't admit this, but they have controlled academic hiring--illegally controlled, btw--in most public and in almost all private universities since at least 1960.
"a party that has confidence in its own ideas"--? What ideas? The Democrats attack the people (ad hominem) and not the ideas precisely because they have no ideas of their own. It's all they know how to do. But the radical-left press lefts them get away with it--no accountability. If we had an ethical press (there's an oxymoron), the Dems would have to change.

I think he's lying, and if he is, it will come out.

The Republican "leaders" don't talk because their politics are poll-driven and they are afraid of the New York Times. However, if the choice in '16 is Clinton or Christie, conservatives better open their eyes and get their a**es to the polls if they don't want 8 more years of horrendous policies, terrible hairdos, and absolutely horrible eye-glasses.
20 years? Big government has ruined America for at least 50 years, and we have allowed it.
What needs fixing is our courts. We need to impeach judges who make rulings like these.
Aren't you lucky, Piers, that the First Amendment does apply to fat foreign bigots!

Am I missing something, or is >Given the Left's much-ballyhooed regard for "civility," then, that the President's new big-time advisor, John Podesta, was forced to apologize today for calling the GOP "a cult worthy of Jonestown", isn't it?
You got one thing right--he is "your" president. And you can have him.
The expression "based off" is incorrect. The correct expression in normal American English is "based on," or perhaps "comes from." If Town Hall employed even a part-time copy-editor, this kind of unprofessional error would be quickly and easily caught and would never see the "printed page" to embarrass the writers and publishers. But alas . . . Town Hall has been repeatedly reminded of this issue, by me and many others, and of how easy, and relatively inexpensive, it would be to fix this problem. But, in their wisdom, they continue to stick their heads in the editorial sand and to act as if it really doesn't matter if their writers and articles exhibit professionalism and just plain avoid dumb mistakes. Maybe they think that most of their readers are, like the Democrats TH condemns every day, just too stupid to know the difference.
