I am so sad that I'm finding so many occasions when the word "Orwellian" fits so well.

Myths to Ditch in 2014

It seems to me to be a very human thing to believe that what seems obvious to us is obvious to anyone who will just look. I think that leads to people deciding that those who disagree with them must be stupid or evil or both. I think it would be useful to put more effort into trying to see the others' perspectives and jut how different the world may look to them. That might help us communicate with them better, and show them that they are wrong and we are right :).
The Orwellian logic is, "If you don't subsidize my chosen behavior, you are imposing your beliefs on me." It is a sad commentary on our country that it gains such traction.
So the government will take responsibility for their lives so they don't have to.
Q: How many politically correct people does it take to change a light bulb? A: That's not funny!!
Jesus met people with mercy and then called them to radical repentance. Recently in church we read about a terrible sinner who climbed a tree to see Jesus. Jesus was kind and accepting of the man, and inspired him to radical change of his behavior. "For the Son of Man came to seek out the lost." (quoting from memory; don't shoot me if I get a word wrong).
It is not that we are special; it is that America is special. We have been given a great gift, and as my Boss famously said, "From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required"
I joined the NRA online. They have no idea what color I am.
We need to do a better job promoting a vision of human dignity (so lost now) and demonstrating how a nobler approach to human sexuality will serve that dignity. Insulting people will not serve that.
We need to get better at making the case that the way we live out our sexuality and present it to the world is a matter of human dignity. I don't think we have been very effective, while the other side has been hugely effective.
