It amazes me that they will be so proud of being instruments of social change when it suits them, and then say they have no responsibility for the bad messages, and so many people buy it.

It is dangerous to give knee-jerk reactions. Admittedly, given the history of this administration it is hard not to do.

Society seems not to want to take a hard look at the question, "When is this being (zygote/embryo/fetus/child) worthy of protection? At what point does someone get human rights?" Can there be a more important question than who is entitled to human rights and who is not? One minute before birth or one minute after birth, does that make all this difference? How long can people hide from this question?

I think one of the reasons "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" were so successful was that they tapped into what was best in us. Humanity, for all its faults, has accomplish great things, and can accomplish more, I think there can be exciting things in our future.
Yes, many people seem not to have noticed that society has long ago redefined marriage, from being a vocation of service and suffering based on natural law, to a lifestyle choice based on personal desire, and society has been unraveling as a result.

I'm confused. You say you favor gay marriage because government should stay out of our personal lives? But isn't legal marriage inviting the governenment to interfere with your personal lives? Aren't you saying, "I want the government to issue us a license to regulate our relationship and if we break up, to regulate our breakup?" I seems to me you would avoid legal marriage all together.
In so many Catholic schools, universities and seminaries, it has been impossible to find the Catholic Church's teaching on sexuality presented in a positive and compelling way, and yet, I see a growing push from a small but growing group of lay Catholics to take another look at it, to take another look at it. They find it more positive and more humanizing than the approach modern secular culture takes (surprise), and I shall be interested in watching the development for the coming years.
