John, Don't forget that NASA was only successful because of companies like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and hundreds of other large and small companies that helped solve the complex issues of getting man into space as well as getting them on the moon. Does the govt build roads (using tax dollars from us) or do they hire construction companies to build them? Do they build the tanks, ships, jets or do they hire companies like the companies mentioned above to do it?

Tonight is the long awaited Mars landing. The most intricate undertaking next to the lunar landing. Pray God all goes well as we need a pick me upper after Obumber has gutted our NASA budget. If you look at all the spinoffs we get from space science, it was the most bang for the buck ever. Makes you sick to see all the wasted of money we have spent on obumber's friends and bundlers. Looks very criminal to me!!!

True. I get his point, though. As an engineer and self-admitted geek, I love NASA. To me, it shows what exceptional Americans can accomplish in spite of the government. NASA has its faults, but I bet no one told the engineers and scientists who put men on the moon "you didn't build that". Yes, the government paid for it, but real people and American companies made it happen.

It's too bad we don't have much out there today that can inspire people to be exceptional. It's hard for America to do great things when so many see realtiy TV as a legitimate career path. It's especially sad when compared to those exceptional achievers out there who have accomplished such great things.

Dear Comrade Bill,

Did you really think I would write an article that goes to a million readers about a non-existent email? If you want a copy of the email and others like it, you can see this article by education expert Ben DeGrow. There are apparently a lot more just...
