You don't go charging into a situation like Custer at Little Big Horn.

Nonsense. Law enforcement is there to SERVE AND PROTECT. Secondly, it's hardly analogous to say confronting a single gunman is like Custer charging into Little Big Horn. Pretty sure there were hundreds of Indians there.

WHY NOT!! Police and firemen are PAID to go into potentially hazardous situations. It is easy for "swat teams" to bust down doors and destroy things (and people) for possessing "contraband" but when "the rubber hits the road" (carnage involving children) they "sit on their hands and act like wusses. I am ashamed of what passes for "law enforcement" in MY country.
I would have been in there at a moment's notice. I am sure that there are many REAL men (that don't collect a "law enforcement" paycheck that would say do the same thing.

Adam Lanza, a troubled, apparently medicated youth -- whose mother, an avid gun enthusiast, taught him how to shoot firearms of all calibers -- also fatally shot six others, teachers and staff, at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The school, equipped with a brand-new security system that was in "lockdown," was considered by parents to be one of the safest anywhere. Nevertheless, Lanza shot his way inside the building as easily as if he was breaking...
