Immigration reform with real background checks and real proof of eligibility requirements is probably acceptable. Many of us want enforcement of existing laws first. We also want to end automatic chain immigration and security on our borders.

I agree. Before residency, require more English, and before citizenship fluent English to read all documents and literature about candidates. Why do citizens have to pick up the tab for these English classes? If a person understands what it means to be a citizen, one who really contributes to making this a better country, he or she will invest their own money in learning English. They would be prouder of their accomplishment instead of being treated as a child who is not able to accomlish anything on his own. Most educated immigrants are aware of this.

Individual States should do what is best for their citizens and honest elections, and let the Supreme Court struggle with them, as I expect it would. They should exert their States rights, anyway, to deport illegals, fine employers that hire illegals, and do whatever they need to do.
The citizens of some States would absolutely support such actions, and their opinions should count.
