Medved,very astute observations from your comfortable view point perched high on your RINO porch. Maybe from there Harry Reid,Nancy Pelosi and Tim Geitner look like unicorns at play but lets get real! The only thing we can hope for is a full scale retreat by Republicans with cover fire. Obama will get what he wants and the country will quickly fall into an economic tailspin which will result in everyone associated with the "compromise " to be thrown out of office including and especially the present GOP leadership.

The biggest obstacle to a bi-partisan deal for avoiding the fiscal cliff involves an inability to agree on specific, common goals. The underlying aim for Democrats is to close gaps between rich and poor by raising taxes on the wealthy; the deepest goal for Republicans is to slow the growth of government by cutting spending.


Both sides, however, already recognize the urgent need to boost revenues while simultaneously reducing expenditures.
