What also frustrates me is that PETA used to be actually about the ethical treatment of animals - that they had decent living conditions in the lab and on the farm before they were killed for research or for food. (Baby calves raised for veal, cattle killed in unnecessarily frightening ways, etc.) Then they went after ANY animals' being killed for research, and now officially they're going after any animals' being killed for food. They really need to change their name. As eager families travel to relatives’ homes this week to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal, they may be surprised by billboards from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals discouraging holiday merriment. The billboards are targeted at children, reading “KIDS: If you wouldn’t eat your dog, why eat a turkey? Go Vegan.” People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal’s latest advertising ploy in Nevada and California is sure to make people lose their appetites.
