This formulation is wearing thin, but the "good news" is the US unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent last month. The bad news is that the U3 figure dropped for all the wrong reasons, and other crucial indicators looked decidedly gloomy -- again:

Well, when the GOP was last in control of Washington, it had racked up 52 straight months of economic expansion, 9.958 million jobs created, a 3.2% GDP, a 4.5% unemployment (which means full employment), a DJIA at 12,398.01, etc..... then the Democrats took over Congress on 3 January 2007.
