Which leads to the "great debate" in which those on the Left want government to do more, and on the Right, you want government doing far less. Americans who utter the words "government should do something about that"- insert personal problem here- have been conditioned to believe that government is the panacea to all things. All the while, government continues to grow into this massive leviathan that is out of control and out of touch with reality. Every time a new law is passed, "We" give up another freedom or level of liberty to government control. I imagine that if Jefferson, Adams, Madison, and the rest of "the Founders gang" saw government today, their first words would be "where is the arsenal"?

The presidential playbook generally calls for a successful candidate to swing to the middle when they are running unopposed for their party’s nomination.

But as we enter perhaps the final months of the Obama administration, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for anyone to make an appeal to the center, if indeed a center even exists in American politics anymore.

Obama has destroyed the political center in this country, and for that we can be thankful. 

Because Obama’s policies have exposed the basic problem with the bipartisan approach favored by establishment Republicans and so-called Blue Dog Democrats.
