I don't know why voter registration and voter ID is a political, left/right issues in USA, it should not be. In Canada, there is no need to register to vote, government automatically registers you. Before the federal or provincial election, you get a card i the mail telling that you have been registered and asking for update of personal information. This gets rid of voter suppression. Also you need a photo ID to vote. But in Canada, absolutely everybody has a photo ID. Universal health care covers everybody, and everybody has a health card, which is photo ID. But this gets rid of voting fraud.
In Canada, we don't worry about religion or private life of politicians (e.g., I don't know how many children our Prime Minister has). As long as his policies are OK, his religion is his affair. His policies on issues such as gay marriage, abortion, contraception, universal health care etc. are in line with those of most Canadians. Since becoming the Prime Minister, he has not tried to ban gay marriage or restrict abortion in any manner. That is good enough for me.
I am a Canadian. Normally I don't read TownHall, but somebody pointed out this article to me. Well, Mr. Mitchell, you are clearly ignorant of what Canada is about. Let me list it for you. Gay marriage is legal all over Canada. Absolutely no restrictions on abortion of any kind. All abortions are paid for by government. Government run clinics dispense free contraception to teenage girls without the knowledge of their parents. No death penalty. Universal health care, or socialized medicine, as Americans disparagingly call it. Interracial marriages are much more prevalent than in USA. In short, Canada is regular Sodom and Gomorrah, and proud of it. You would be thoroughly miserable here.
