Two "wings"? I'm sorry, but if the "peace and justice" wing doesn't believe in the Church's official doctrine that life begins at conception, it's can't call itself Roman Catholic. It's as simple as that.

That article still doesn't refute the argument that Obama is a failure as President and needs to be voted out of office. D'Souza's book and film are intended to get people to examine the President's background and decide whether they still think he deserves the job.

Obama's Dreams

You should read Obama's book, too. If more people had read it early enough, he might not have been able to hoodwink so many people. It's just as was said of Hitler and "Mein Kampf". If you read his book, you saw his goals and what he planned to do to follow him.

'Bait and Switch' Taxes

The "tax the rich" slogan is simply pandering of the basest kind to voters who haven't bothered to learn anything more about the subject than just "poor man good, rich man bad".

You've missed the point, chagins. Income taxes tax income, not net worth. Dr. Sowell's numbers are correct.

Depending on Dependency

I keep asking myself why I continue to get up every morning and go to work, and pay my bills, when I could just find my own place at the State's teat. And the answer is that I was raised to have some respect for myself and not to want to sponge off someone else, when I'm fully capable of supporting myself.

The Brass Standard

And what Armey described, is fascism. The average person thinks of big rallies in a single-party political system, and strident slogans shouted from brightly colored posters. But at its heart, a fascist system contains the nexus of the State and large businesses who manipulate the political process to control markets. And we're pretty damned close to that, if we're not already there.
Is anyone surprised that "and less" was dropped from subsequent quotes?

The Reign of Imagination

These fanatics are going to strike again and again at anyone and everyone who does not submit to their interpretation of Islam. Reese's line from "The Terminator" is an apt quote to paraphrase in describing these fanatics: "They can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with, they don't feel pity or remorse or fear, and they absolutely will not stop". They have to be killed, each and every one, or rendered incapable of harming anyone but themselves.

The American Left/Progressives cannot understand why the attacks took place, because their worldview includes flawed premises. They believe that all people are basically good, and that people everywhere are alike. They also believe that morality is relative, that everyone must follow his heart, rather than to follow an external source. And they believe that economics drive everything. So, they cannot comprehend that radical Islam is a threat, not because the West colonized various countries, or because we support Israel, and not because the people who stormed the diplomatic posts at the behest of Al-Qaeda agents provocateurs are poor. It's because they hate anything that does not fit their worldview, which is informed by Wahhabism.

"...in the meantime, many people will keep on voting for symbolism, as if an election is a popularity contest..." We need to return to property qualifications to vote, and raise the voting age back to 21, for federal elections, at least. If you own property, you're going to be more likely to be more thoughtful when you make decisions, and 18-year-olds, generally, aren't wise enough to make good judgments.
