Because as much as we say we believe in individualism, in the end too many of us are sheep for the Republican Party. In-between elections we moan and groan about how the Republicans are no better than Democrats. Once election time comes around, we let the talking heads on Fox and the conservative radio talk-show hosts convince us that "Yeah, Romney/McCain/etc. isn't my first choice, but he's better than the Democrat." Then to "prove" the RINOs are better they point to what they say on the campaign trail. They can't point to their record, as that proves they are no different from the Democrats.

The only answer anyone ever seems to be able to offer to that question these days is, "Because the Democrats are worse." However, the problem with being the lesser of two evils is that you're still an evil.
