As a retired Airborne Infantry First Sergeant, I need to help you understand the difference between "being in combat" and actually living the life of an infnatryman 24/7, day in and day out. Being attached to a unit or beinf in a unit that makes contact in theater is something that happens to women only in theater. But for infantry, we plan and train and prepare ourselves for that contact our entire careers. We live in the field, practive tradecraft, live the "suck" because we want to prepare our Soldiers as much as possible for combat. This life is hard, dirty and terribly difficult. Women cannot or will not be able to live this way. They may end up in combat, but that is entirlely different than living a life in the infantry getting
