I have to believe that those we see on the TV & hear on the radio who are whining about being taken care of by the government are the minority that the stations choose for impact & to further their agenda. I know a lot of people who are always ready for an emergency. They far outnumber those who aren't. I hope after this there will still be more who prepare.
The quote is still there and some people actually take it to heart and learn from it. The turning away of non-union doesn't make us scared, it makes us angry. Hopefully it opens the eyes of the people in the northeast to the danger of allowing someone else to make your decisions. Hopefully people will get fed up enough to actually do something to help themselves and in doing so, help the country.
You say all this like it's a bad thing. Sounds like he's got some business sense and a plan for his family's future. Would that we all would think like this. The nation would be better off.
I've been through the very things you describe, not once but at least 4 different times in my 60 years. For the record, there's always some kind of "safety net" if you're willing to look for it and accept the responsibility for you're own life & decisions. I'm not a millionaire, nor have I ever been. I applaud those who achieve such level, but they don't owe me anything. They earned what they did and should be entitled to keep it.
I wonder what I could do to get ripped by Maher? What an arrogant low life. All Maher ever reveals is what an utter fraud HE is.
I'd actually pay to watch that show.
I DO expect it to get better. Maybe only marginally, but improve it can if we don't give up. I'm beginning to see even parents like you describe changing in the face of having to deal with those kids they mis-raised. Bad will always come back to bite those who spread it. It's not real pleasant for the rest of us who have to also educate their children after they are inflicted on society, however, it is in some cases actually fun to bring a bit of real knowledge into their infantile brains. If we're consistent, the lesson will eventually take in some.

While I can applaud Dr. DuBois desire to raise pride in the black communities, he was wrong to embrace hyphenation as a means. Hyphenated Americans are something less not more than just Americans. Segregating Americans on any lines - racial, income, education, etc - is bad for the country. America has always been a melting pot for any and all. Without disparaging anyone's background, people from all over the world came and forged a nation of hard working, integrated people. There will always be bigots and idiots (repetitious, I know); loudmouths who must denigrate others for any reason to make themselves feel superior, but they are a tiny minority. The LSM seeks them out for their value to sell news making them sound like they are more than
