Exactly. Couple that with the fact that Nixon, Ford and Carter had cut our military to the bone and Reagan had to build it back up to provide a credible threat to the Soviets again. He did that, and got the Soviets to back down on most of the issues he challenged them on. Then, when they saw our military getting stronger, they tried to modernize theirs and it broke their little Stalin piggy bank. They crumbled and their walls fell.
