I've been told dozens of stories by white males of how they were told to their faces that they could not be hired because they were white and the employer had a minority quota to fulfill. If that's not racism, what is? Affirmative Action has given us winners like Michelle Obama who couldn't make it past 'associate' at the law firm who hired her for her fancy Harvard degree because the paper means nothing if you can't do the job! Nurse Jackie is closer to the truth than people realize. As a retired health care worker (OK a Nurse)the hospitals work you to DEATH. Every day there's more work to do and less nurses to do it and the reason Jackie takes drugs is because she's got a back problem--caused by work but can't get worker's comp for--which is common among women who routinely have to turn a 200+ pound patient.
