On second thought perhaps I should have used garlic and vampires or silver and werewolves as an analogy since Kryptonite would make the Democrats Superman...

How about Newt as a Supreme Court justice? The Left would go bananas but I would love to have Newt's intellect put to use in defense of our Constitution in that body.

True, Bill Clinton only succeeded because the Republicans under Newt kept him in check. The Dot com boom smoothed over many other problems, too. My question is why have Republicans failed so badly in implementing true conservative principles with Republican presidents and Republican congress? Nixon screwed up big time, Reagan did well with a Democrat congress, Bush I got pwned, and Bush II royally screwed the pooch and tarnished conservatism by implementing liberal initiatives and calling them conservative (No child left behind, Department of Homeland Security, Medicare drug benefit, massive deficit spending etc). A conservative would have defunded the Dept of Education, simplified the tax code, ensured homeland security by kicking...

I think you hit it on the head. We need some one who can actually implement conservative, constitutional principles. Newt has an astounding intellectual grasp of conservatism and can defend it and advocate it better than just about anyone. He was pretty effective as Speaker of the House but will that translate into success as President? The jobs demand different skills.

What a load of horse hockey. Newt as "vitriolic"? Chapman presents as patently false, statements Newt has made about Obama when they are in fact patently true. I'm sorry, the Obama Administration just about made it Job 1 to erase every mention of Islam or Muslim when discussing terrorism ('man made disaster', 'overseas contingency operation', failing to recognize Nidal Hassan as a terrorist etc etc etc). Does Chapman deny that Obama is pandering to radical Islam by snubbing and betraying our best ally and the only democracy in the Middle East, by perpetuating false claims of "torture", cynically vowing to close Gitmo, by refusing to support a revolution against Ahmadinijehad who aided the murder of US soldiers in Iraq with high power...

Role Reversal: The Feds vs. Arizona

There is no basis in law or logic for challenging the Arizona law. There is also no basis to allege racism or racial profiling since Arizona's law specifically forbids it and is much more narrowly focused than the federal statute it mirrors. States already have multitudes of laws that mirror federal statutes; the purpose of these laws does not undermine federal primacy in those areas where it clearly has a constitutional role - such as interstate commerce or immigration - rather it reinforces the federal government. The Obama administration's absurd argument in this case is that it is the federal government's prerogative to NOT enforce the law and to prevent the States from doing so either.

They’re ALL Communists

Finally, someone says what I have felt for so long yet not been able to articulate so well. How do we defeat these thugs? My oath says to defend the Constitution against "all threats foreign and domestic" - Communism is by definition a threat against the liberties our Founding Fathers enshrined in our Bill of Rights. How do we fight back?

Narrowing our public discourse

Any mention of Jesus Christ means you're a knuckle-dragging, red-neck racist to a liberal. This article gets it exactly right: Brit was offering advice which has worked for him. He believes his faith is the right way because it is his faith. A liberal has no faith - they are moral relativists and bristle at the idea of anybody "clinging" to any notion of universal truth, unless it's of foreign origin. I think a lot of racism underlies this mindset as liberals have a romantic vision of the "noble savage" - whether it be a Buddhist, Muslim or some aboriginal tribe's animist beliefs - and they hold this up to cover their underlying bias.
Do you really think a terrorist is going to carry flash cards to help him hijack a plane? Will he stand at the front of the plane reading from notes so that he doesn't make any grammatical mistakes while announcing his plan to immolate everybody on the flight? Get a grip people - you come across as a bunch of xenophobic zealots.
I don't question the fact that TSA took some extra time to question this college student based on what they saw - I just question the scope of the detention. Five hours because he had some flash cards, stereo speakers and had traveled to Muslim countries? This is a bit of a stretch, but TSA should use some common sense. I can't imagine that it would take more than 30 minutes of quality questioning to establish that this kid was just a college student who had studied abroad.

Anyone who is studying Arabic and wants to carry on a coherent conversation about current affairs is going to have to know the word for "bomb" etc. Any college student you come across is just about guaranteed to have some stereo equipment with them. And...
