Funny you should mention that . . . when college sports brings in about 10-200 million dollars a year to each college or university each year for televison, radio, etc. Fine . . . get rid of the coach and the sports program and your tuition and books would be higher. Get a great coach and pay them a premium and your school is rolling in money that is not just spent on sports . . . it fuels the university building new libraries, classrooms, technology, etc. The sports stadium is used for concerts, meetings, etc. that brings in money to the college. So I do not understand your point in throwing college sports, coaches and athletes under the bus . . . but how much does diverity bring to the college to alleviate costs?

How many times have you heard Barack Obama talk about "investing" in education? Quite a few, if you've been listening to the president at all.

In fact, Americans have been investing more and more in education over the years, led by presidents Democratic and Republican. But it's become glaringly clear that we're getting pretty lousy return on these investments.

That's been evident at the K-12 level for a long time. Teacher unions and education-school types have had custody of most of our public schools for more than three decades, during which test results and high school graduation rates have been mostly...
