Forgetting the Meaning of Freedom

As an atheist, I find it funny you call atheism a religion. There are no religious teachings, trappings, formula, responsibilities. Simply a statement of lack of tangible verifiable evidence. As for a bible hiding in my hotel room? Never had one go out of its way to bother me. So yeah, this group needs to find something productive to do with their time.
When I think of brainwashed, I don't see it as taught that the only way to think is God is true. I see it as being taught to want to believe. I can make what I feel are moral and reasonable choices. (Many consistent with judeo christian society). And I pretty much tend to get a good success rate on my personal endeavors. I know a lot of people who pray for things to happen and seem to be still waiting. I suspect the author is one of the type who prays, then gets on with getting things done. If the results of this feel miraculous and reaffirming to you, great... but that reaffirms your Belief. It does not unquestioningly provide evidence to me that your success is due to your Faith and your prayers have been answered.

In my opinion people telling the truth just tell it. The sky is blue. People lying to you are the ones who constantly remind you they are telling the truth.

Same Sex Marriage: Stealing Rights From God

The Greeks were pretty much for swinging on both sides of the fence. Zeus apparently did not disapprove of this and hit the adultery button a few times Himself. It is Silly, to say that RIGHT is only defined by your particular Ghost in the Sky, who has shown up for dinner just as many times as Zeus has (0). Given that there are a number of Christians who accept God as the definition and source of good and morality, but still do stupid, mean and immoral things. Why is it that ONLY their good acts count? If I refrain from stealing and lying, I don't covet my neighbor's wife (I might appreciate, but not covet), and have no desire to hurt another human being who is not threatening myself or my family, why is my common sense approach to having a decent life invalid in your world view? How come the simplistic action of saying I Believe suddenly and magically makes those exact same choices Sanctified and Right, when I would have had the benefit of good relations with people who know they can trust me and not worry about me sticking a knife in their back? In Christian history a number of things have been done that were markedly non-Christian, so we know that individual (and group) choices do matter. Are you saying the Inquisition was ONLY wrong because God exists? Or the perversion of Christianity as portrayed in Islam? Doesn't everything happen as writ by Allah? There is no room for conscientious objection there? What about the church of Jeremiah Wright? Were his words and teachings only wrong because you are in or not in his congregation?
