Our government will always have a safety net for the truly needy. What has happened over the past 40 years is that government largess has creeped into the lives of the midde class, something that was never intended to happen originally. However, too many of today's politicians use that stick of government largess as a means of holding onto power.

What we have now is no longer a safety net, but a snare that entraps people into dependence on the largess of government.

It becomes a lifestyle instead of a hardship.

When America's "poor" generally live better than the middle class of Europe, you have to go "hmmmmm."
