Obama is crying so loudly for bi-partisanship for several reasons. If the republicans do not go along with him he can say they are the obstructionists and it is their fault. If they do go along and the action is a disaster then he will say that the republicans were all on board with it also. And if the plan works then he will say that he brought everyone together and led America out of the woods. But the bottom line is that he doesn't have a clue what to do and just wants to insulate himself the best he can. That is why he was championing the fact that he cut taxes 18 times. Each cut was like throwing a dart at a target he can't see. He just hopes he hits something. Well, 18 darts and no economic improvement.
This country is at a historic crossroads, and the path we choose can determine our future far beyond the next four years. Our children and grandchildren may someday bless us or curse us for what we do this Tuesday. Against that background, it is painful to see the petty talking points and gross misconceptions that seem to dominate this year's election campaign.
