#1. Go back to Monday-Friday delivery only, no more Saturday. That would cut labor significantly along with all the benefits course the mafia unions would fight that tooth and nail cause the more employed the more money they make. #2. Put mail boxes all on the same side of the road and more in front of one house like 8 boxes at each stop. This would also cut labor, less stopping, faster delivery so each mailman could hit far more area's which would cut labor. By the way, if trash company's would require all trash cans be placed on just one side of the road (2 houses per stop) they also could cut expenses tremendously, gas, labor and wear and tear on trucks..

Interesting thought with the trash cans. In my area there is one driver of the garbage truck, an automated arm that empties the trash can. Back when I was a kid there were at least 5 guys on each truck.

No, the U.S. Postal Service won’t close on August 1st because it can’t afford to make a required $5.5 billion payment into a federal fund for postal retiree health benefits.
