Divorce Between Teachers and Parents

Mark: True: I started first grade in 1966 and by the time I entered high school in 1974 the discipline had completely changed. Our grade school teachers each had a big paddle haning in the classroom for good reason. Once in my third grade class, two of the prettiest girls in my class got paddled for disrupting the class and chewing gum. That was enough for me. Whenever I took a report card home, my mother would check conduct first. If I was acting up, I wasn't learning and distracting the other kids as well. My son is a fourth grader in the Fulton County School System in metro Atlanta. A child almost has to kill another to be disciplined. The amount of time wasted during the school day is inexcusable. I'm actually...

Dear Mr. Harris: Based upon the comments in your post, I presume you are or were a resident of New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina was not the first storm to threaten the city. Residents of New Orleans had used the Superdome as storm shelter once before during a previous hurricane. Why wasn't the city better prepared? Both city and state government failed miserably. A fortune in tax dollars has been wasted on top of the human and environmental destruction. It's no secret that the city sits below sea level.

The Racism of the Black Community

I moved to Atlanta from New York City in the early 1990's. Twice, I got lost driving around the city and wound up in African American neighborhoods. The people on the street were pointing at me. I didn't know what that meant, but I did know I better get out of those neighborhoods. When I lived in New York City, being called "officer" by the African American street punks was a weekly occurrence. The tone of voice usually had a goading quality to it.
After enough bad experiences with ethnic groups who have been given a license for bad behaviour via political correctness, I've gone back to an all white community. Prove me wrong.

..this website. If only the editors at the Atlanta Journal Constitution would publish it.
Thanks for sharing your post. I agree with your observations. Porn and strip clubs are disposable gratifications without any committments. But they can and do cause big problems. Good luck in treating your addictions.
Porn will never go away, nor will most vices. I would, however, like to have control over what goes in and out of my home. There was a time when you had to make an effort to find porn and at least it was away from the general public.
Why can't there be a regulation that all porn be dissemenated over a XXX domain on the internet? I would love to have it blocked out of my home and away from my children. It's getting to be almost unavoidable. You can't even watch a golf event on television without be bombarded by Cialis or Viagra commercials.

I know several local bankers and had the occasion to meet David Rockefeller when he was the Chairman of Chase Manhattan bank. They are not interested in the destruction of the U.S. economy.
They do have families and want to see them prosper. Look at the resumes for your community bankers. Most of them are active in Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions Group, scouting, youth sports programs...etc.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I went through the link posted. "Massachusetts as the Shining Utopia on the Hill?" Are you mad? Home to John Kerry, Barney Frank, and the Kennedys? American lowlife at it's finest! Try stopping in at the Kerrys' for a beer on a summer afternoon in the Vineyard. They will be so glad to see you!!

You've mixed up collectivism and Christianity. Study history. It has failed over and over. No matter what ethnic group tries it, it - Communism - does not work. Humans yearn to be free and compete to the best of their God given abilities. You need to pay a visit to the visitors gallery at the Chicago Board of Trade.
Be there early when the market opens. Watch the T-Bond pit. If...
""The Real Housewives of Atlanta." Its characters put the "low" back in "low class."
...why does a journalist with your abilities watch this drivel? I live in Sandy Springs and have never had an ounce of interest. Get back to work on some real topics.
