Ho-hum, more deck chair shuffliing. We need the government to get out of the healthcare business. It has massively increased costs and decreased quality. Take away government meddling and nearly everyone could afford a much higher level of healthcare than what we have now and at far less cost. I remember back in 1979 a hayfever shot had to be given by a registered nurse in the presence of a doctor. The cost was 25 dollars. In Mexico the exact same shot from the same drug company was available for a peso (about 25 cents). The hundred-fold price increase was entirely due to government meddling. That's why people think they can't afford health care.

The political left is doing the St. Vitus dance over Paul Ryan's budget. This is the proposal Ryan put forth as Chairman of the House Republican Budget Committee to deal with the nation's fiscal crisis. Democrats are labeling it as "radical," and "extremist," especially Ryan's plans to reform Medicare.

The president has called the Ryan budget "social Darwinism." Democratic National Committee Chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said it "would end Medicare as we know it."
