Ok column, but adopting the language of the left is frankly stupid. They are not "progressives," if they were they would actually have to be for progress. The Left is progressive only in the sense that cancer is a progressive disease. Far better to call them leftists, statists, socialists, fascists, or totalitarians. Far more accurate, far less flattering, and far less likely to attract the young.

the Communists of the USSR called themselves "progressives",the communists of Red China call themselves "progressives",communists of Central and South America call themselves "progressives".Communists worldwide call themselves "progressives".
So,"progressive" DOES equal socialist/communist.
socialism is the first,necessary step to communism.
But people make too much about minor differences in definitions,when essentially and practically speaking,socialism IS communism.

Oh man, what a week. My thoughts on the debate were pretty much in line with every other two-legged creature roaming the Earth, and my reaction to the blame-game in the aftermath of the Romney victory still brings a smile to my face. Who didn’t enjoy watching Chris Matthews meltdown? I got to accurately call Barack Obama “the nation’s first ‘participation trophy’ President” and point out how he’s “conducted his presidency in bubble-wrap.”
