Based on what? Our government bungles up everything domestically, but when it comes to international affairs, the bureaucrats become wicked-awesom?
The US gives $3B a year (25%) of Israels defense (& offense) budget. Maybe the US shouldn't be aiding and funding either side. The entire world is currentlyi a US welfare recipient!

You may sell that gay marriage is a lot like pork and shellfish, but abortion is a stretch. If people truly believe that it is terminating a human life, then it applies with laws against murder. Now I'm the first to admit that prohibiting it won't solve the problem, but there is a very legitimate argument that abortion goes against natural law.

You SHOULD be able to. But there are protected groups that keep you from your first amendment right of freedom of association.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of the whole Servetus story.

People always quote, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and give to God what is God's" to justify paying taxes, but maybe this whole issue is because marriage is an institution of God's that was turned over to Caesar a long time ago. Now as we suffer many of the consequences, maybe we should consider getting the government out of marriage altogether like proposed in Oklahoma after their laws against gay marriage were turned over by the courts.

Good responses by DSMike and Dead Right. It's very easy for grace and the main point of the Gospel to get overlooked, especially by Christian fundamentalists and when dealing with politics. I'm sure Dorothy is a nice lady and maybe very devout, but sometimes people (me included) can piously miss the forest for the trees.

Well, you got me on a grammer mistake. Kudos! I'm not avoiding the issue and I don't necessarily care about what most consider reasonable. Adoption has been given to Caesar the same way marriage was. Now we complain about the consequences.

"Who gets to decide if adopting a kid is safe for the kid, the community, etc.?" Bureaucrats and socialist workers. I know you are concerned about strict family planning for the sake of the community, but try substituting the word "adopting" for "birthing" in your question and then answer why the whole world hasn't collapsed yet.

How have the Dems seved you even one small bit better? How are they any different in their level of "decency?"

That's what socialism is all about. We can't take in refugees and children because the state ultimately becomes responsible for them. Even if you would be willing to adopt and can give them a better life (maybe they used to live in a 1 bedroom with 23 kids), that is not an option. We are stuck arguing over whether or not to deport kids or get stuck paying for them.
