It created a political and military mindset that because of our military might we could fight any enemy to a standstill because they could never defeat us. Unfortunately, that thinking created the scenario for Vietnam. The enemy would eventually come to understand they couldn't defeat us militarily and would eventually come to terms just like North Korea. The rest, as they say, is history.
