Poor Carney has to cover for Pres. Obama's foolishness. That's a hard task for anyone.

I agree with Jacoby. It is not the government's job to rescue us from obnoxious speech, just as it is not its job to rescue us from foolish financial or business decisions. I feel that the Cohen v. California decision was the wrong, though. A judge should have absolute power over what happens in the courtroom, and the decision undermined that.

wmou, I would *never* ask anyone to vote against their conscience, if the sense that their conscience is giving them is based on an accurate assessment of the candidate. The problem with purists is that they view Romney as "evil" either because of his politics or his religion. Romney may or may not be a political 40, which is a purely subjective measurement on your part, but that is still far better than Obama's 15. From a political standpoint, it is silly for a conservative not to vote for him. His religion is a more legitimate issue. If one has a sincere concern about voting for a Mormon, then so be it. But that person still needs to acknowledge the consequences of his decision. I have not yet seen one anti-Mormon do that.

Two stars that are light-years apart can appear almost like one star as seen from Earth. If you believe that there is little or no difference between Romney and Obama, then you are so far right that you've fallen off the chart, and you have no hope of having a winning candidate who agrees with you.

Good idea! Vote for Romney, who is a step in the right direction, and get more constitutional Conservatives in there to push him even more in the right direction. That actually makes a lot of sense--unless you're a purist. :)

Fuzzy2: "He won't be able to do squat???" What are you thinking! He has done plenty already, and regaining or keeping majorities or even "super-minorities" in Congress is not guaranteed. Besides, he does not have to do anything else to do more damage to our future. What is happening right now is bad enough.
