Attacking your opponent instead of the message is a philosophical strategy called an, "Ad Hominem"attack. If you can't destroy the facts, destroy the person delivering them. That's what is going on with many of Palin's political statements.

Both of you have very valid points but I don't think intellectual dishonesty causes it so much as it is forming a world view and refusing to accept anything that contradicts that view. People are herd animals. They need to belong to a herd. It makes them feel safer...connected...and like sheep...protected from death. The irony is there is only one way to avoid permanent death....by giving your life to Jesus Christ....There is another quote that explains how people can be so intellectually blind..."There are none so blind as those who cannot see." In other words without Jesus Christ, people often can't see the real truth. As a nation we have turned away from God who is "the way, the truth, and the life."

A Glowing Report on Radiation

My exhusband was a navy nuke, too. He also has had no ill effects. We did have 4 girls though...no boys. I've never seen a study done on this but it does seem that men who come into contact with radiation as jet pilots or in the Nuke Navy are less likely to have boys. Anyone else have any info on this?
I don't know who made the film you reference but I'd be willing to bet that it's biased. No matter what a Christian believes...they will never be perfect...in fact all Christians are very imperfect. Becoming a Christian doesn't immediately correct all your flaws. That's impossible. We aren't perfect we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. I used to feel as you do until I met Jesus Christ. That profound experience changed my life forever. I know Jesus loves me because he died on a cross so I could have eternal life with him. You have made your choices of what you believe. You have every right to your beliefs, but surely you don't think saying nasty things to those who differ with you will change any minds. I don't...
I agree. We have counselors to take students out who are disrupting education. The talk to them and return them to class with no real consequences. Surprise, they disrupt again as soon as they get back into class. It's nuts.

I'm having a real hard time swallowing what you're saying when only 34% of students in WI can read adequately. Are 66% of WI students burdened with below average IQ s? Or maybe their teachers care more about their health care and pensions than their students. As I understand it, N CLB was put in place to establish standards in education. Being produced by the government, these standards would not be too stringent. The problem might lie with the excuse-making teachers, and not the students. Reply: I agree with everything you say except No Child Left Behind. Yes it was an attempt to set some standards. Everyone agrees that it was a...
Sad to say but I think we lived in a golden era. I give thanks for my parents teaching me the truth.
Amy, I have a learning disabled child, too, and got the same treatment. As a teacher I try very hard to help my learning disabled students. In the big scheme of things if they can just find one thing that they do well in life...be it sports, art, reading, writing, math, science, or anything else...it gives them confidence to try. I tell my kids in front of the other students how smart they are when they give me their best effort. School can be a very hard thing for students are special ed. Especially when the only measurement is a test. Some school divisions in my state are now moving to alternative ways to assess students. If you aren't happy with the way your child is being treated, demand that something be done even if you have...
