No, actually he's right. The Spaniards certainly did make slaves out of Native Americans, in the sense that they forced labor out of them and forced their religion on them. So far as I know, they weren't bought and sold as property. Also, homosexuals were flocking to San Francisco since way before the 70's. They just were quieter about it before the sexual revolution. Then, since everyone else seemed to be fornicating like mad monkeys, they figured it would be okay if they came out in the open. Well, I hope this new fellow is more inclined towards the positive aspects of his religion, rather than its sometimes less glorious moments.
