News flash - Republicans are NOT the governing party. They control 1/2 of 1/3 of the government. The remainder is controlled by the Democrats. It's THEIR economy. THEIR ball. Americans voted for more government even though Repubs and the Tea Party tried to tell them bigger government costs more money. When they re-elected Obama they said they wanted to pay a lot more in taxes so let them. Let the Bush tax cuts expire. Let the Dems have their way. When people come to their senses maybe the conservatives will be organized enough to pick up the pieces and rebuild. Why is all the responsibility for the Obama cliff on the Republican shoulders?

The world just isn't fair!

Maybe it's because the Republicans have had just enough power to derail every initiative that might have actually helped the economy?

There is no doubt Obama wants the over cliff deal...he gets his high taxes which when added to his health plan taxes will create job loss, and people will have to depend on goverment that sold them down the river....this will be a huge step for his Socialist goverment to take completly over the USA. Once he get rid of the legal guns, that pretty well will wrap it up and he will stay dictator as long as he likes.......although not working well for Libya now.

If that were the case then why has Reid not brought forth any bills passed by the House for a vote or amendment? Nor have they come up with anything or their own or a budget in almost 4 years.

Repubs have been trying to be the adult with a a drug addicted spoiled child. Time for tough love. Let the spoiled child be responsible for their own mess. Just don't give them a bigger debt ceiling.

Purple State-U speak of "Initiative that might have actually helped the economy"--Can you be a TAD more specific of democrat endeavors that would/could have ACTUALLY achieved such without serosly increasing an already out of control DEFICIT? Help me out here?!
Last week, Republicans proved they are not a governing party. Next week we will see whether Democrats are.

A governing party would have, reluctantly, passed Speaker John Boehner's Plan B, which would have preserved the current tax rates on everyone with incomes under $1 million.

Passage would have put Senate Democrats on the spot, since they voted for a similar measure in 2010. They might have engaged in negotiations with Boehner that could have been more productive than his negotiations with Barack Obama this month and in the summer of 2011.

Then, as Bob Woodward reports in his book "The Price...
